Get Sustainable Freight Right
Our manifesto sets out clear commitments for councils and combined authorities to adopt to accelerate sustainable, low and zero-emission last-mile freight. Our asks are designed to be actionable and relevant to core local government powers across policy, budget and land.
Deliveries keep our towns and cities moving. They support local businesses, enable residents to access goods and services, and underpin the everyday functioning of the local economy.
But the way deliveries happen on our streets is changing fast. With rising demand, constrained kerb space and the urgent need to transition away from internal combustion engines, our local transport networks and the people who use them are experiencing both new challenges and opportunities.
This manifesto sets out three clear commitments for councils and combined authorities to accelerate sustainable, low and zero-emission last-mile freight.
Adopt a Freight Policy and Kerbside Plan
Commit a three-year sustainable urban freight budget
Protect space for microhub networks
These asks are designed to be actionable and relevant to core local government powers across policy, budget and land.
Our members across the country want to work with councils, combined authorities and delivery partners to co-design practical policies, pilot and evaluate interventions, and scale what works.
